Dating is no easy feat, and you might feel discouraged if you think you’re looking for love in the wrong places. Some choose to enlist the help of professionals, but what if an airline wants to step in to help out? Now you can find love at about 30,000 feet in the air, with the help of EVA Airways, one of the largest airlines in Taiwan.
EVA Airlines Joins Forces With Moibus
The airline is joining forces with Mobius, a travel experience company, and is launching a flight to nowhere program they’re calling “Fly! Love is in the Air.” These special flights will take off on Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day and are for singles who are looking for love.
Spokesperson for You and Me, Mobius’ speed dating arm, Chiang Tsung-Wei told CNN Travel: “Because of Covid-19, EVA Air has been organizing ‘faux travel’ experiences to fulfill people’s desire for travel. When single men and women travel, apart from enjoying the fun in travel, they may wish to meet someone — like a scene in a romantic movie.”
The flights will depart from Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei, circle around the airspace in Taiwan for a few hours, pass over the country’s east coast during daylight, and then finally over the western shore at nighttime.
The Singles Only Flight Offers A Chance At Love
Passengers will be randomly assigned seats, and will have the ability to change seats in order to mingle with more single people over the course of the flight’s duration. Snacks will be provided by Michelin-star chef Motokazu Nakamura.
Each flight will cost $295 per person. Anyone who is interested in the flight will first have to fill out an application. Men must be between 28 and 38 years old, while women must be between 24 and 35 years old. Additional requirements include having a university degree and being a Taiwanese citizen. There has been a bit of backlash for the age ranges that are required. The airline has responded by saying it is part of their plan.

Chiang explained: “From different surveys we have done, most of the male participants would like to meet women younger than them while female participants would like to meet men older than them. That’s why there is a different age criteria for the event. But You and Me have organized different dating events that cater to different age groups.”
